Support for Parents

We all know that being a father, mother or carer is not an easy job and at times things get tough.
Our Parent Support Advisor, Jean Burton is here to help, if needed, to deal with the challenges family life can bring.

She can help you by providing...

• Information, advice and practical support including helping you access other information.
• One-one support in your own home or other suitable venues.
• Information about local and national support services.
• Opportunities for you to get involved in your child’s learning and school.
• Opportunities to learn new skills and meet with other parents.
• Courses to build positive relationships with your child and share parenting experiences.

If you would like to contact Jean, she will be at Hunwick Primary on a Wednesday and will hold a parent’s drop in session, 9am – 10am.

If you would rather make an appointment at an alternative day or time, then you can contact her on...

The Red Box Project

Published on Wednesday 25 September 2019 by Mr M Hall.

The Red Box Project

The Red Box Project is a nationwide, community-powered initiative to ensure that no young person misses out on their education because they have their period and lack access to menstrual products.

The Red Box Project started 2 years ago, in Portsmouth, and now has more than 3750 active red boxes in schools and other educational settings across the UK, ensuring young people have access to menstrual products whenever they need them - no questions asked.

The Red Box Project are thrilled with the news that the Department for Education's funding for free menstrual products in England's secondary schools and colleges will be extended to cover primary schools.

Anna Miles, co-founder of the Red Box Project said, “We are delighted that the Department for Education has listened to our concerns about the scope of this policy and has extended funding to include primary schools. Our experience at the Red Box Project has shown us that girls as young as 8 or 9 can experience period poverty. No child should miss out on their education because they have their period, irrespective of their age.“

Here at Hunwick Primary we have signed up to The Red Box Project. If any pupil would like to access our Red Box please see Mrs Oliver
